1. US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to stop the separation of migrant families at the border. Trump has still maintained the “zero-tolerance” policy that criminally prosecutes migrants who cross the border illegally.
2. UK MPs voted against a “meaningful vote” amendment to the Brexit deal. The amendment would have given parliament the ability to veto a no-deal Brexit.
3. China will link lifting sanctions on North Korea with progress on denuclearization. Kim Jong Un and Chinese President Xi Jinping met for the third time this week.
4. Russia wants to swoop in on the empty spot left by the US on the UN Human Rights Council. Russia put forward its candidacy following the US' dramatic withdrawal.
5. Cannabis stocks are surging after recreational use was legalized in Canada. Canada became the first G7 country to legalize the substance on Tuesday.
6. The US may have secretly promised Apple it would be immune to a trade war with China. Apple, which does nearly all of its manufacturing and assembly in China, was promised no tariffs would be placed on iPhones.
7. Presidential adviser Jared Kushner met with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince to discuss Middle East peace. The Trump administration is said to be working on a peace plan that focuses on humanitarian aid and rebuilding Gaza.
8. Hungary criminalized providing certain help to asylum seekers. NGO workers would be liable for jail terms if they helped migrants seek asylum when they are not entitled to it.
9. China tried to shut down Australian media coverage of its debt-trap diplomacy in the Pacific. The situation exemplifies how China tries to control media at home and abroad.
10. New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern went into labour. Ardern will become the second world leader to give birth while in office.
